Solspace Super Search

Super Search looks fantastic. Results are relevancy ranked. The search URL structure uses GET (which mimics Google), so searches are bookmark-able unlike the built-in search. You can query keywords, weblogs, categories, statuses, custom fields, date ranges, etc. This is really interesting because it’s essentially a way of browsing entries without the weblog:entries tag. This would be very handy if, for example, you wanted to construct a faceted browse menu. There are a number of other goodies such as saved searches and various levels of caching.

It costs $85 so needless to say I haven’t had a chance to test it out. Still, looks like a great alternative to EE’s limited built-in search.
